Gently-used uniforms - The Hang-Up

The Hang-Up is Holton's gently-used uniform boutique. The Hang-Up is brought to you by the Holton-Arms Alumnae Association, whose mission and focus is to provide continued value to the Holton experience. Students and families may purchase uniform jumpers, skirts, polos, turtlenecks, gym uniforms, sweatshirts, fleeces, and sweaters at a significant discount. 

Students may visit the Advancement Center during the school day. The Hang-Up will continue to be open Monday-Friday for students. 

Parents may drop in on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 8 a.m.- 4 p.m.

In the event that Hannah Leckey, Administrative Assistant for the Advancement Center, is not available for check-out, please fill out the Hang-Up form at the front desk of the Advancement Center. All purchases will be charged to your student’s accounts. Please contact Hannah Leckey  if you have any questions.

Donations are always much appreciated and encouraged, but please make sure to wash your items before drop-off. We only accept clean Holton branded merchandise that are in uniform.

All clothing must be clean, neat, hemmed, in good repair, and fit appropriately. Jumper hems should not be shorter than the student’s fingertips. All clothing should be labeled with the student’s name. Dress for field trips is at the teacher’s discretion.

NOTE:  The Holton plaid is identified in Lands' End materials as the "white plaid"

SHIRTS: White or navy short or long-sleeved logo polo shirt, white turtleneck (shirt tails tucked in)

JUMPERS: Holton plaid jumper (hems should not be shorter than student’s fingertips)

PANTS: Navy slacks, corduroy, or twill

SHORTS: Navy skort or navy bermuda shorts, navy bike or Holton gym shorts (under uniform only)

SWEATSHIRT/SWEATER/JACKETS: Navy, white, or gray Holton sweatshirt with logo, navy cardigan sweater, Holton fleece jacket

SOCKS: Navy or white socks (no decoration/Holton logo allowed), socks must be visible above the ankle

TIGHTS: Navy or white

LEGGINGS: Navy, white, black, or gray ankle length dance leggings (no lace trim)

SWEATPANTS: Plain navy blue sweatpants or navy blue sweatpants with the Holton logo may be worn under the uniform for winter dress code (time between Thanksgiving Break and Spring Break).

SHOES: Students are required to wear athletic sneakers to school on a daily basis. These athletic sneakers must follow the color guideline below and have a non-marking sole and laces that tie securely. Please note that it is very important to have full stability and arch support, and therefore fashion sneakers will not be permitted (including Converse and Vans).

• ATHLETIC SHOE GUIDELINES: Lower School students must wear athletic sneakers that are all black, white, or navy. Any details or highlights (including laces) can be black, white, navy, or gray.

JEWELRY/ACCESSORIES: Limited to stud earrings and simple wristwatch (no smartwatches). Students should not wear rings, necklaces, bracelets, or anklets to school. Simple hair accessories in uniform colors (blue, white, grey, plaid). Students may wear one hair tie or scrunchie on their wrist. No nail polish or hair dye/hair tinsel.

• Please note that Lower School students are not allowed to wear smartwatches at school. If a student needs a smartwatch for transportation, it should remain in their bookbag while in the school.

PHYSICAL EDUCATION: Grades 3-6 Holton P.E. uniform

• Uniform white or navy polo shirt
• Holton or plain navy athletic shorts
• Navy, white, or gray Holton sweatshirt for cold weather
• Navy sweatpants for cold weather activities

• Students are asked to keep an extra pair of socks, uniform shirt, and shorts/leggings at school in case a change of clothes is needed.

FRIDAY SPECIAL DRESS: On Fridays, students are allowed to wear socks of their choosing and up to 3 bracelets.

FREE DRESS DAYS: On Free Dress Days, students can be out of uniform.

• No attire that promotes a political party, political candidates, or a political issue
• No attire that promotes alcohol, drugs, or is sexually explicit 
• Any daytime wear appropriate for school

Logo always refers to the Holton logo. Skirts must measure no more than five inches above the knee. Skirts should be big enough to be buttoned and zipped closed (no rolling). All clothing should be labeled with the student’s name. Dress for field trips is at the teacher’s discretion.

SHIRT: White or navy short or long-sleeved logo polo shirt, white logo turtleneck, a plain white t-shirt under the uniform shirt

SKIRT: Holton plaid skirt

PANTS: Navy slacks, corduroy, or twill

SKORTS/SHORTS: Navy bike or gym shorts (under uniform only)

SWEATERS/JACKETS/SWEATSHIRTS: Navy, white, or gray Holton sweatshirt with logo. Navy cardigan or crewneck sweater with logo. Holton fleece jacket. (Sweatshirt/sweater/jacket length must be above skirt length, not the same length).

SOCKS: No sock rules

SHOES: No high heels, Crocs or slippers. Sneakers are highly encouraged.

JEWELRY/ACCESSORIES: No hats or blankets

DRESS FOR FRIDAYS: Uniform skirts or slacks with out-of-uniform shirts, sweaters, and sweatshirts.

• No attire that promotes alcohol, drugs, or is sexually explicit
• Any daytime wear appropriate for school
• Appropriate attire that does not show any mid-drift or innerwear (such as bras or sports bras)

PHYSICAL EDUCATION: Holton P.E. uniform shirt and shorts (issued to students first day of school and billed to Holton accounts) & sneakers

SHIRT: White or navy blue collared shirt with or without Holton logo. NO sleeveless. NO T-shirts. NO words/writing except the officially sanctioned Holton logo.

SKIRTS:  Uniform only. Holton plaid or navy, appropriately sized and in good repair.

PANTS: Navy slacks, chino/twill, or corduroy.

SWEATPANTS: Sweatpants will be allowed as our winter uniform starting after Thanksgiving break until the start of our spring break. ONLY solid navy blue or navy blue Holton sweatpants are in uniform. Any other color (i.e. gray) or navy sweats with other logos will not be permitted. Sweatpants are worn under/with the Holton skirt.

SWEATERS/JACKETS/SWEATSHIRTS/BLAZER: Solid white, gray, or navy sweatshirt, with or without Holton logo. NO other words or writing. Solid navy or white sweater. Holton jacket or Navy blazer with Holton crest.

TEAM JACKETS: Officially approved and sanctioned Holton team jackets only, Holton-Arms warm-up suit (team jackets must be approved by the Director of Athletics and the Upper School Director or the Dean of Students before they can be worn in the school building as part of the uniform). 

SOCKS/TIGHTS: Navy or white socks. Navy, white, or black tights. Navy, white, gray, or black ankle-length tights or leggings (worn under skirt). No yoga pants or flared pants.

SHOES: No formal-wear shoes with high heels will be permitted for the safety of the students.

• Heels less than 2" only 
• Sneakers highly encouraged 

JEWELRY/ACCESSORIES: No requirement

DRESS FOR FRIDAYS: Out of uniform. Any daytime wear appropriate for school.

• No attire that promotes a political party, political candidates, or a political issue
• No attire that promotes alcohol, drugs, or is sexually explicit 
• Appropriate attire that does not show any mid-drift or innerwear (such as bras or sports bras) 

PHYSICAL EDUCATION: Clothing and shoes appropriate to the activity.
