The 2018-2019 edition of Scroll + Scrolling, the school's print and digital literary magazine, recently earned the staff its seventh consecutive Gold Crown Award in the Hybrid General Magazine category from the Columbia Scholastic Press Association (CSPA).
CSPA was founded in 1925 to support the scholastic publishing community, provide training for student journalists and advisors, and promote excellence in the field. The Gold Crown Award is the organization's highest honor and recognizes overall excellence in a head-to-head comparison of the more than 1,100 entries from across the nation.
Congratulations also go to Stephanie Halpern '19, who won third place in the Computer Generated Art/Illustration category of CSPA's Gold Circle Awards for her spread on the School's PUNCH fashion show.
This fall, 2018-2019 Scroll + Scrolling earned Gold Medalist and All-Columbian honors in CSPA's medalist critique program, which scores the publication based on a strict set of written criteria. The school earned 970 out of 1,000 possible points.
The judge wrote, "The conceptual development in both Scroll and Scrolling creates a visual and verbal 'whole book look.' The writing and visuals are outstanding. Both the print and digital platforms are exemplary. Together they form an outstanding, cohesive, enriching experience for the reader... Judging your magazine was a joy."
