Varsity Lacrosse

OVERVIEW

The Holton-Arms varsity lacrosse team had a historic 2018 season. We ended the year in the ranked in the top 20 nationally, #16 according to US Lacrosse Magazine, #15 according to Inside Lacrosse and #7 according to The Washington Post. The team had a strong start to the season, staying in The Post’s Top 10 for a record five weeks before just falling off. However, a monumental 10-9 victory over St. Stephen’s & St. Agnes during the ISL Tournament grabbed national attention. Not only was this the first time in School history that the Holton lacrosse team has beaten the Saints, it was the first time the Saints lost in the tournament for 21 years!

Captains Rayne Layton ’18, Taylor Lawrence ’18, Libby Mulligan ’18, Christine Padalino ’18, and Kaitlyn Pham ‘18 lead the team through a strong indoor season and gave a strong 6-1 record going into spring break. Highlights from the season include strong wins against Agnes Irwin, Garrison Forrest, Woodson and many ISL schools.

Outside of Holton seven girls were selected to represent the DC area in the US Lacrosse National School Girls Lacrosse tournament. Girls from around the country tryout for their regional team to compete with and against the best lacrosse players in the nation. We would like to congratulate Stephanie Hong ’19, Kyley Rymsza ’20 and Sophie Whiteway ’20 for making team one, and Sydney Pham ’20 for making team three. Kaitlyn Pham ’18, Taylor Lawrence ’18, Sophie Whiteway ‘20 and Stephanie Hong ‘19 also received league honors as they were voted to the ISL AA first team. This represents the highest number of Holton players to receive this honor in one season. Congratulations girls!
