FAQs

What does financial aid cover?

The financial aid grant covers a percentage of the annual tuition. Several non-tuition expenses such as textbooks, transportation, extended day, Junior Journeys, and the purchase of an iPad or a laptop are covered at the same percentage as the student’s tuition aid.

What is not covered by aid?

Participation in certain optional activities carry costs for which financial aid may not be available or may be limited. We make every effort to ensure that all students can participate fully in the life of the School. Parents are welcome to inquire about assistance with any expense that poses a burden.

Do we have to re-apply for aid each year?

Yes. Financial aid grants must be renewed annually. If your family’s financial circumstances do not change in a significant way, you can expect to receive a similar level of assistance each year.

Shall I wait to hear whether my daughter is accepted before applying for financial aid?

No! Waiting may jeopardize your chance to receive a grant, even if you qualify for aid. Observe the deadlines for the financial aid application process to ensure that funds are available for your daughter when she receives an offer of admission.

Does applying for financial aid affect my daughter’s chances for admission?

No, members of the Admissions Committee are not aware of who is applying for financial aid. Financial aid applications are reviewed after admissions decisions have been made.

Who will see my financial information?

All financial information is treated as highly confidential. Only the Financial Aid Committee will see this information, and only the Business Office will see the award amount. Division Directors and faculty members are not privy to any financial materials, nor are they aware of which students receive financial aid.

Is there a discount for siblings?

Holton-Arms School does not offer sibling discounts. Having more than one child in tuition-charging schools is an important factor in determining whether a family is eligible for assistance. We encourage any family with multiple children for whom paying full tuition is a challenge to apply for financial aid.

Are there any merit scholarships available for applicants to Holton?

At this time, we do not have a merit award program.
