The Girls Advantage

There is no such thing as a typical Holton girl.

We take great pride in developing each girl’s unique gifts and talents. A Holton girl is anything but typical. We attribute this in large part to the girls advantage at Holton.

Here, young women of diverse backgrounds can take risks, learn from mistakes, pursue opportunities for leadership, develop confidence, and build lifelong friendships to help them lead lives of positive influence in a supportive environment.

An education at a school for girls is not merely a matter of separating girls and boys. It's about making sure girls take center stage while drawing upon what is known about the way they grow and learn. It's not just the classroom. It's the combination of the community, the culture, and the climate girls' schools offer that makes for such a powerful and transformative experience.

According to a survey conducted by the International Coalition of Girls Schools, girls' school graduates:

  • consistently assess their abilities, self-confidence, engagement and ambition as either above average or in the top 10 percent
  • have more confidence in their mathematics and computer abilities and study longer hours compared to their coed peers
  • were very or extremely satisfied with their preparation for the academic challenges of college
  • would probably or definitely attend a girls' school if they had to do it all over again
  • agreed that girls' schools provide greater leadership opportunities than coed schools.
