LOWER SCHOOL ACADEMIC CAMPS
Math Fact Lab: Summer IRL (Rising 3rd & 4th Grade)
June 15 to 18, 2026 | 9 a.m. to 12p.m. | $400
A joyful, confidence-building experience designed to help young mathematicians build fluency and take on challenges with enthusiasm.
Get ready for a high-energy summer experience that brings math to life! Led by Sarah Coste, Lower School Math Coordinator, this small group, four-day intensive transforms our popular after-school program into a dynamic, “In Real Life” adventure centered on discovery and strategic thinking.
Students move beyond rote memorization to develop flexible mental math strategies – such as doubling and halving, compensation, and breaking numbers apart – building the fluency essential for upper elementary success. Through scavenger hunts, team challenges, and strategic gameplay across campus, students strengthen number sense while building confidence, collaboration, and a positive math identity.
This camp also highlights the brain-body connection. Students engage in juggling scarves and classic string games like Cat’s Cradle and Jacob’s Ladder, strengthening focus, coordination, and pattern recognition in ways that support mathematical thinking and resilience. Each camper will head home with a take-home math binder full of favorite games, puzzles, and strategies from the week – plus juggling scarves and string, so the fun and learning can continue all summer long.
Register by June 8, 2026. Questions? Contact Auxiliary Programs at 301-365-6003.
LOWER SCHOOL MATH AND LITERACY CAMPS 2026
Lower School students will have an opportunity to participate in both Math and Literacy Camps this summer during the same week: Monday, August 17-Friday, August 21. Students may register for one or both camps. A lunch break and outdoor play will be provided during the transition period (noon-1 p.m.) if students sign up for both camps.
Math Camp (Rising Grades 3-6), 9 a.m.-Noon
Join the Lower School math team for a week of interactive math fun! Open to all Holton students entering grades 3-6, including newly admitted students, Math Camp is a great way to review skills, preview concepts, and connect with classmates.
Through games, puzzles, and hands-on activities, students will explore key math concepts like number sense, place value, and problem-solving. We also promote a growth mindset, encouraging students to take risks, embrace challenges, and build confidence in their math learning.
Literacy Camp (Rising Grades 3-6), 1-4 p.m.
Read, write, create, learn! Students will embark on a five-day literacy adventure, exploring the world of words while building essential language skills. Literacy camp combines storytelling, collaborative writing, spelling and vocabulary games, and comprehension strategies for both narrative and informational texts. Through Reader’s Theatre, students will boost fluency, increase sight word vocabulary, and improve decoding skills. Each day offers exciting ways to enhance literacy skills while having fun.
