Lower School

Please schedule a required virtual interview via the admissions portal or contact the Admissions Office at 301-365-6000 or admissions@holton-arms.edu. The interview is for parents only. Information regarding the format of the interview will be sent to your email with the appointment confirmation.

Parents/guardians are invited to join an optional group campus tour as applicants will tour the campus during their Applicant Visit Day. Each tour will consist of a maximum of three families. All individuals scheduled for the tour must provide a valid ID. These group tours will begin in October. Appointments may be scheduled via the applicant portal or by contacting the Admissions Office at 301-365-6000 or admissions@holton-arms.edu.

Applicants to Grades 3 and 4 will be scheduled to take an assessment in-person at Holton. Families will receive further information through the admissions portal once the application is received. 

Applicants to Grades 5 and 6 will take a required online in-house test. This test will be administered virtually by Holton. Testing will begin in November and scheduling can be done through the admissions portal. 

Holton-Arms requires an official transcript for the current and previous school years. Please sign and give the Request for Transcript form to your daughter's school. We strongly recommend that your daughter's school send the transcript electronically to admissions@holton-arms.edu.

Holton-Arms requires two recommendations from the applicant’s current teachers. The Common Recommendation Form is available through the admissions portal to be sent directly to your daughter's teachers. 

Additional recommendations from other teachers, coaches, mentors, and friends are welcome, but not required and may be submitted to admissions@holton-arms.edu.

All applicants will be required to attend an Applicant Visit Day.

Applicants to Grade 3 will be invited to attend a small group visit; multiple dates will be available during the fall and winter.

Applicants to Grades 4, 5 and 6 will be invited to participate in an Applicant Visit Day in January. Additional details will be provided in the admissions portal.

We highly recommend that families consider a Shadow Visit for their 6th grade applicant. Shadow visits will take place November to January from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. with current students. Availability is limited. We require families to begin the application prior to scheduling the visit.
