Upper School (9-12)

In the Upper School, students engage with a unique and challenging curriculum infused with opportunities to set goals, perservere through failure, problem-solve in collaboration with others, and emerge self-confident, resilient, life-long learners.

Our faculty is stellar, creative, and responsive.  They guide our students and offer them the encouragement and support needed to push their boundaries, overcome obstacles, and connect their learning to the wider world.  

While Holton students consistently attend many of our nation’s most highly regarded colleges and universities, we aim to help each student identify and pursue the college path that best aligns with their values and aspirations.

In Upper School, we develop the knowledge, skills, and practices needed for living a healthy and balanced life.

Throughout our curriculum, in academics, the arts, and athletics, students develop self-awareness, social responsibility, and the critical thinking necessary to make healthy responsible decisions. 

Through individual and shared experiences in Seminar, Advisory, Athletics, the Arts, Community Engagement, and Global Education, we integrate opportunities for students to connect their learning to broader contexts.  Throughout our programming, students develop a healthy and positive understanding of the multiple dimension of their identity. With a nuanced understanding of their authentic selves, students deepen their ability to understand multiple perspectives and interact with others with compassion and empathy. 

Our ultimate goal is to help students grow into the most confident, knowledgeable, skilled, and compassionate version of themselves, poised to make a difference in their local, national, and global communities.  

We empower them to strive to meet their potential as scholars, athletes, and artists. Our students develop discipline and perseverance while honing their communication, time management, and collaboration skills.  

Students matriculate, having developed the confidence, knowledge, skillset, and will to collaborate with others in addressing the world’s most pressing issues.
