  • Upper School

Congratulations to the US Winter Track & Field team for winning the Montgomery County Indoor Track and Field Championships on Wednesday, February 4. The Panthers secured the trophy with a dominant performance, finishing with 181 points and winning by 89 – the most significant victory margin in school history. This is the second-ever team title for Holton, following its first in 2020.

From the opening race, the Panthers controlled the meet, with multiple athletes competing across events to maximize team scoring. Remy C. ’26, opened the day with a season-best time in the 55-meter hurdles to capture first place and maximum points. She went on to score additional points in the 55-meter dash, 4x200-meter relay, and triple jump, ultimately scoring a team-high 24 points across four events.

The 500-meter run saw the Panthers sweep the podium with a 1-2-3 finish. Kate B. ’29 claimed the event victory, followed by her teammates, Francesca D. ’26 and Helen B. ’26

In distance events, Kasia K. ’28, shattered her own school record in the 3,200-meter run, clocking a time of 12:11.23 to take first place. The performance came shortly after Kasia ran a personal best in the 1,600-meter run earlier in the meet.

The Panthers proved dominant throughout the day in the field events category. Dasha H. ’28, matched Remy as Holton’s top scorer with 24 points, earned across the long jump, high jump, and triple jump.

In the shot put, Hannah W. ’26 and Sami W. ’29 finished first and second respectively to add crucial points to the team total.

The Panthers closed out their day in the 4x400-meter relay. A quartet featuring three seniors, Lydia O’Q., Francesca D. and Helen B., and one freshman, Kate B., crossed the line first to bring the final team score to 181 points.

“It was a great team effort and team win as we scored points in every event,” said Head Track and Field Coach Sam Evins

Congratulations, Panthers!
