Two Holton Athletes to Swim in College Next Year
Congratulations to Rin Iimi '22 and Sofia Thomas '22 for their commitment to compete in Division III athletics next year. These dedicated student-athletes were celebrated by their friends, family, and Holton community on Wednesday.
"We are so proud of both of you and I'm so excited for you both," said Head of School Susanna A. Jones. "We're really excited to watch your careers in college. Thank you for all that you've given to us over the years you've been here."
Rin Iimi - Washington University in St. Louis, Swimming
Rin has been swimming since she was about 5, and typically swims breaststroke and individual medley events. She'll be attending Washington University in St. Louis in the fall, which she says she loved for its environment and atmosphere.
She would like to thank all of her coaches and teammates who have supported her along the way, with the biggest emphasis on her mom who cheered her on in every single one of her races, no matter when and where they were.
"The Holton Swim & Dive team has taught me a great deal about teamwork and working together because, although swimming is an individual sport, the teammates I swim with played a huge role in getting me to where I am today," Rin said.
Sofia Thomas - Colby College, Swimming
Sofia has been competitive swimming since she was 8, and will continue on at Colby College in the fall.
She chose Colby for its strong academics, amazing community, and the incredible coaches and swimmers on the team.
Sofia would like to thank Coach Graham Westberg for all his support and help over the years, and Director of College Counseling Suzanne Carter for her helpful advice and guidance throughout this process.
"I would also like to thank my family, my club coaches, and all of my amazing friends at Holton who have always been there for me," Sofia said. "I am so lucky to have their support!"
