Inaugural Senior and Third Grade Buddy Program

This year, the third graders and seniors had a stellar time in their inaugural buddy program! The program started in September, where each third grader was grouped with a few seniors and the groups spent time bonding and giving each other advice. This unique initiative not only promotes our LW3 goals but also strengthens the bonds between our youngest and eldest students. 

The year kicked off nicely with a quick meeting before Convocation, and when it got cooler, the students met up for apple cider and coloring. Third Grader Fiona K. shared, “I really enjoyed the senior buddy program because I got to bond with all the seniors, and not just our buddies but with everybody.”

In the wintertime, the seniors and third graders gathered for a rejuvenating yoga session led by Mrs. Evins. The Black Box Theater transformed into a shared dance floor where students bonded over hot chocolate and enjoyed the festive "snow" machine at the dance party. Senior Lila B. “loved providing my third-grade buddy with a positive first look at Holton and helping her get excited about her future years.” 

The program ended on a bittersweet note, with the third graders singing the seniors a song about their time together on their last day of school and crossing the bridge together during the Closing Ceremony. In good spirits, Claudia L. thinks “that it was one of the best things in Third Grade! And it gave me four people to say hi to in the hall!”
