New Learning Commons to Transform Library into New Heart of the School

New Learning Commons to Transform Library into New Heart of the School

Holton is making tremendous progress on the Learning Commons, a project that will transform the Middle and Upper School Library into the new heart of the school.

During construction, the temporary home of the Marriott Library will be the historic Granger House, which will become a hub of learning, collaboration, and community-building for students. Meanwhile, our selected contractor Gilbane will be bringing to life our new Learning Commons with its flexible workspaces, gathering areas, student commons, and opportunities to study or socialize inside at the cafe or outside on a terrace or patio. Our thanks to the many generous donors who have made this project a reality for Holton-Arms.

Students, parents, and faculty and staff will be able to participate in a ceremonial groundbreaking for the Learning Commons on June 6. Demolition and construction will begin this summer, and we expect to open the space to the school community at the start of the 2024-2025 school year.

Incoming Head of School Penny B. Evins will reside in another of  Holton’s houses, which will be appropriately known as ”The Head’s House” on Burdette Court. The Head’s House sits adjacent to the softball field, and we are excited to welcome the community there next school year.
