Grandparents' and Special Friends' Day Brings Joy and Celebration

The Lower and Middle Schools came together on October 31 to celebrate Grandparents' and Special Friends' Day.
The day began with a joyful all-school assembly filled with music, movement, and smiles. Addressing families seated in the Lewis Theater, Head of School Penny B. Evins spoke about the special bond that connects generations: "Thank you for the stories you share, the wisdom you offer, and the belief you place in these girls. You model resilience and grace. You remind us that love is both anchor and compass. You know these girls have the power to grow the good. We see this, too."
Holton's Chamber Singers & Swing Choir opened the morning singing the Alma Mater. The third graders performed Kahuli Aku, a traditional Hawaiian song about a snail with a hard shell, a lively performance that set a cheerful tone for the day. The sixth-grade Strings Ensemble followed with Canon in D by Johann Pachelbel (arr. Andrew Balent), delighting the audience with their beautiful playing. The celebration continued with the Middle School Junior Orchesis performing Bolero by Gustav Ravel and I Hope to Get It from the 1975 cast of A Chorus Line.
After the assembly, guests made their way to classrooms, where they joined students for activities, tours, and time together. Laughter and conversation filled the halls as generations connected and celebrated learning, friendship, and community. It was a wonderful morning honoring the special people who support and inspire our students every day!
