Candidates must have a minimum of 3 years teaching experience in a rigorous, college preparatory program at the Upper School level and enjoy working with students as well as with colleagues. Successful candidates should have a strong educational background in mathematics and be able to teach a wide range of courses in a curriculum that range from Algebra through AP level and beyond. A bachelor’s degree in a mathematical discipline is required; an advanced degree in a related area is preferred. Private Music Teachers
Fine and Performing Arts Adjunct Program
Holton-Arms School invites applications for part-time music teachers for its after school Arts Adjunct Program for this school year. We are currently seeking professionals to teach in the following areas: guitar, piano, saxophone, and voice.

The program includes informal and formal performance opportunities throughout the year with open studios, studio workshops, and recitals.

Director of Major Gifts
The Holton-Arms School invites applications for the position of Director of Major Gifts. This full-time, 12-month position offers an exceptional career opportunity for the successful candidate. Founded in 1901, Holton-Arms School is an independent college preparatory day school for girls serving 657 students in grades 3-12 on its Bethesda, MD campus. Holton is known for its commitment to academic excellence, and for providing leadership opportunities for its students. The Director of Major Gifts will identify, engage, cultivate, solicit, steward and build relationships with current and prospective donors. The position reports to the Director of Advancement and works closely with the Head of School, the Advancement Committee of the Board of Trustees, and with other volunteer leadership to achieve Advancement’s financial goals in support Holton’s current program and long-term Strategic Plan. Start date for this position is July 1, 2013.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Manage approximately fifty (50) prospects in a moves management continuum, including:
- Initiating contact with prospects
- Conducting qualification visits
- Developing cultivation strategies
- Soliciting outright leadership gifts for the Holton (annual) Fund, a capital campaign, and/or planned gifts for endowment
- Maintaining personal stewardship contacts with assigned prospects
- Work directly with the Advancement and Alumnae Services Manager to maintain the Major Gift Pipeline to identify and qualify prospects as well as tracking prospect’s inclination, capacity, and status
- Maintain a systematic approach to steward and track all endowment gifts, including writing reports and initiating personal meetings for on-going stewardship of endowment donors including individuals, foundations, and corporations
- Identify opportunities and initiate increased communication with major donors, planned gift donors, and volunteers in both broad and specific ways
- Work with Director of Annual Giving and Alumnae Director to coordinate all programs and to ensure the flow of communication/information sharing among the programs
- Work with the Director of Advancement to evaluate regional major donor and planned gift prospects and initiate travel for personal visits where appropriate
- Support and attend all cultivation and major donor events, as well as other advancement office functions
- Manage the Reunion Class Representatives for key Reunion classes
- Work closely with colleagues on the Advancement Team on major school events such as Autumn Fest, Mosaic, Spring Gala, Reunion, and Graduation
Qualifications and Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree and 5 years development experience, preferably in an educational setting; transferable experience working with high-net worth clients will be considered
- Experience with volunteer management, direct major gift solicitation, and/or capital campaigns
- Fundamental knowledge of planned giving or the desire to learn
- Skilled at crafting proposals, donor correspondence and other written material; comfortable making presentations to a variety of audiences
- Proficient with Microsoft Office programs, Outlook, and development databases
- Functions effectively with moderate supervision and with attention to detail and accuracy
- Able to organize and prioritize work in accordance with supervisory input
- Manages multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
- A team player who can skillfully coordinate fundraising activities with supervisors and peers; emotionally mature with a sense of humor
- Must be able to work outside of the normal schedule to accommodate and support the office including early morning meetings, evening engagements and occasional weekend obligations

Upper School Drawing and Painting Teacher

Part-Time Accompanist & Teaching/Administrative Assistant

Additional responsibilities include administrative assistance for the Fine and Performing Arts, arranging/transcribing music using notation software, small group vocal coaching, and overseeing the maintenance of all pianos. Additional opportunities include accompanying instrumentalists, providing musical direction or incidental music for theatrical productions, and teaching private lessons in the Fine and Performing Arts Adjunct Program.
The ideal candidate will have a bachelor’s degree in piano and experience as an accompanist/collaborative pianist for singers and choruses.
