We are elated that 56 Holton students will be traveling abroad this summer! They will be improving their language skills, interacting and learning with peers, living with host families, and deepening their knowledge of global issues. France
June 2 - 13
Laurence Selim and Nicole Mahr will be departing for France on June 2 with Ashley Morefield, Kat Kirkpatrick, Kendall Turner, Kenya McNealy, Mira Gill, and Shanzay Khan. After hosting French students from the Danielou school this past February, our Holton students will be continuing the French Immersion program with their own trip to France. They will live with host families, attend language classes, experience French museums, and deepen their understanding of the culture and language of France. Bon Voyage les filles!
Spain
June 2 - 19
Roxana López and Diego Bautista will be returning this year to Madrid, Spain on June 2 with a new group of Spanish language students. Drue Foster, Eliza Smith, Johanna Garfinkel, Tess Iannarone, Madeleine Hyde, Maeve Hickey, Sydney Chapman, Sydney Johnson, Yasmeen Haider, and Zainab Wurie will embark on our second annual Spanish Immersion trip. While in Spain, Holton students will attend intensive language classes, live with host families from the Centro Española de Nuevas Profesiones, and sharpen their language proficiency as they learn about the capital. ¡Que aprendan mucho y que lo pasen muy bien chicas!
Costa Rica
June 9 - 22
Lara Wulff and Mary Quirk will be departing on June 9 with juniors Alexandra Berthiaume, Grace Ann Brew, Bernardine Bruggen, Isabel Cabezas, Gabriella Chen, Cheyenne Coote, Rodina Dereje, Polly Feldman, Dara Gill, Nikky Grover, Danielle Jones, Aisha Khan, Kelly Krawczyk, Ayesha Lilaoonwala, Emily Lucas, Julia Peiperl, and Julie Pettis to work with our partner community in San Miguel de Sarapiquí. There they will learn more about Costa Rica’s efforts towards conservation and preservation of her natural resources. ¡Buen viaje chicas! ¡Pura Vida!
Senegal
June 9 - 27
Melissa Brown, Stephane Moreau, and Ousman Sallah will leave for Dakar on June 9 with a group of 14 juniors. Mary Mutryn, Aimée Jones Wilkerson, Austin Butler, Antoinette Nwabunnia, Danette Frederique, Jackie Force, Mackenzie Adelberg, Sachi Khemka, Kelsey Spencer, Rebecca Bloom, Gabi Mayers, Kate McDonough, Malaika Simmons, and Samantha Coronel will live with host families while in Dakar as they study how women affect and are affected by an Islamic society. These Holton students will meet with the young ladies from Mariama Ba School for Girls on Goree Island to discuss women’s issues both in the U.S. and in Senegal. Holton will return to the village of N’Diawdoune where we will spend 5 days working with the elementary school there. Bebenne yown Inshallah!

We can’t wait to send our third group of students to India with Elizabeth Buko and Ambria Archibald on July 30. Juniors Caroline Menkes, Jazmyn McKoy, Sarah Lasky, Lexi Butler, Lindsey Thaker, Maggie Bosch, Alison Cohen, Morgan McNair, and Rachel Fleisher will be continuing our work with the students at Modern School in Delhi, assisting with English classes at the Molar Bund Slum Project, and learning about the Tibetan community in exile in Dharamsala. śubh yātrā.
