Varsity Volleyball

Holton-Arms Varsity Volleyball finished their season on November 4^th as ISL Division A Champions!  Holton was ranked fourth heading in to the ISL finals with a league record of 2-3.  Holton varsity volleyball proceeded to beat fifth place team, Connolly School of the Holy Child, in three sets to one.  The semi-finals round Holton faced first place team, National Cathedral School, again winning in three sets to one.  This brought Holton to the exciting final round match against St. Stephen’s & St. Agnes School.  Holton took this game to five sets, alternating back and forth until the final set where Holton pulled away to win 15-7.  The final scores were: 15-25 (SSSA), 25-15 (Holton), 19-25 (SSSA), 25-20 (Holton), 15-7 (Holton).

This year the team graduates five seniors, but the group is thrilled to welcome back seven players next fall.  Head Coach Francis Cornejo commented that “he could not have been happier with the level of play he was seeing by the end of the season” and he “could not be prouder of the team’s efforts.”  Cornejo would like to thank his seniors for their support of the Holton volleyball program and wish them well next year.  He would also like those returning players to get excited for next year’s season.  “Holton has multiple players returning to the team and we should have another exciting year.”

In addition to Coach Cornejo, co-captain, Alison Cohen wanted to add her thoughts on the season: “Holton volleyball had a great season this year! Every single player worked very hard and greatly improved her skills, resulting in an ISL championship win. Great job Holton Volleyball! The team will be in very good hands next year under the leadership of the Class of 2014.”
