This Fall season saw the culmination of a number of incredible accomplishments. On a team level, the Holton squad finished first in the league and first in the ISL championship for the fourth year in a row clinching a Holton first double four-peat. This remarkable run was completed with an undefeated season and a record tying ISL performance with all 7 Holton positions advancing to the ISL championship match with three winners and 4 runner ups. The team this year was a perfect blend of youth and maturity with 6 seniors leading the pack to excellence. The team was solid from the start to the end of the season and left no room to our opponents to dream of an upset.
On an individual level, there were a number of highlights that solidified the Holton dominance.
#1 singles: Led by Lilly Lynham in only her second year on varsity, this ferocious competitor posted an undefeated run during the season against the best in the league and a runner up medal in the year end championship.
#2 singles: Led by Kaelin Brittin in her senior year, she finished her Holton career with a 95% winning percentage in 6 years and a runner up medal in the year end championship.
#3 singles: Held by Arianna Spirtos in her second year, she posted a 14/1 record dominating her competitors and clinching the year end tournament for the second year in a row.
#4 singles: Mastered by Angelina Di Paolo in her senior year, she posted a perfect season in both the league play and the year-end championship with a 95% career winning record in 6 years at Holton, 2 ISL winning shields and 2 runner-up medals in 4 years.
#1 doubles: Dominated by Gabby Chen and Karsyn Lawler. Gabby Chen needs to be commanded here for her historical run with the Holton squad posting a perfect 100% winning record in 4 years with 6 different doubles partners. Gabby is the only player in Holton history to post 4 perfect seasons, 4personal ISL championships won, 4 team league #1 finishes, and 4 team ISL championships won. Gabby Chen did it again this year with the reliable assistance of Karsyn Lawler who had her work cut out to support this historical run in the making.
#2 doubles: Held by Jillian Lawler and Catherine McKenzie, the two freshmen had a steep learning curve to master and finished really strong with a runner up place in the year end championship.
#3 doubles: Led by Dina Staurulakis and Lauren Di Franco, these two first timers on the Holton varsity team recorded their best season ever with an undefeated run in the league, a season clinching match in the process, and a runner up medal in the year end championship.
Needless to say, this season was remarkable because these girls were able to combine their outstanding individual accomplishments to secure a historical run for the Holton tennis team.
