Varsity Softball

The Holton-Arms Varsity Lacrosse team had a great 2015 season. We finished the year in 5th place in the ISL. Throughout the season the team fought close battles against intense competition. After a snowy start to the season, we had to cancel four games before heading down to Florida. After a spring break trip to ESPN Wide World of Sports in Orlando, FL the team came back to Bethesda 3-2-1, with a little more color and a little more focused to take care of business.

Captains Kristin Bednarek, Caroline Klinedinst, Olivia Lee and Carlin Pappas lead the team through tight games from the beginning. The season opened with a great win against Bullis. Followed by other wins against Calverton, Sidwell and Episcopal. Holton had a particularly amazing game against the Saints where they fought against the national power house to a four goal game, the best showing in recent history.

Outside of Holton two girls were selected to represent the DC area in the US Lacrosse National School Girls Lacrosse tournament. Girls from around the country tryout for their regional team to compete with and against the best lacrosse players in the nation. We would like to congratulate Taylor Lawrence and Catie Mulligan for their accomplishment. Taylor and Catie were also selected to be apart of the Under Armour All-American uncommitted games on July 4. Olivia Lee also received league honors as she was voted to the ISL AA first team. Olivia Lee was also recognized on the first team Montgomery County All-Gazette team. Annelise Kotz and Carlin Pappas were also recognized as Honorable Mention recipients. Congratulations girls!

During our end of the seasons celebrations the following awards were given:

Most Improved: Rayne Layton ‘18

Rookie of the Year: Taylor Lawrence ’18 & Christine Padalino ‘15

Most Valuable Attacker: Carlin Pappas ‘15

Most Valuable Defender: Catie Mulligan ‘16

The Panthers are sad to say goodbye to their seniors, Kristin Bednarek, Elisabeth Bragale, Caroline Klinedinst, Olivia Lee, Catherine Meyer and Olivia Lee but wish them well in college and look forward to seeing them next year. They especially look forward to cheering on Olivia as she continues her lacrosse career at the Brown University next year.

A special thank you to our dedicated and supportive parents for providing a wonderful season full of good food, great spirits and encouragement.
