Swim and Dive Profile 2009-2010
Season
The 2008-2009 swim season ended on a strong note with a 14th
place finish at the METRO championships, in which over 50 schools compete, and
a sixth straight ISL championship. Such
high standards and achievements are hard to repeat, but the 2009-2010
Holton-Arms Varsity Swim and Dive Team is up to the challenge. The team has over 40 swimmers and divers this
season. Numbers, however, are not the
only good news for our team.
Head and Assistant Coaches Graham Westerberg, Chris Lynch
and Carrie Johnson are excited about the team’s new additions and opportunities
this year. The returning swimmers alone
would make for a great team, but with our new additions, like freshmen Nina
Cohen, Yassaman Erfani, and sisters Grace and Ella Cleary, the team should accomplish
great things. The leadership of the
team’s captains, seniors Lisa Lin, Maddie Smith and Alex Poon as well as other
stand outs like Carmen Ferrarro and Maddie Tennis will hopefully help propel
the team to another outstanding season and a seventh straight ISL
championship.
In addition to this leadership, the team’s successes rest
with the combination of talent and depth.
Swimmers and divers like Ellen Carey, Leah Pappalardo, Jenny Gathright,
Milly Huizinga, Mary Ann Robison, and Nicole Wainer will help to improve on the
team’s performances from last season. The swimmers hope to accomplish several goals
this year… with the team’s primary goal to win our seventh straight ISL
championship. It will be difficult, but
we are confident that our team is up for the challenge. We feel that through hard work, dedication
and positive attitudes that the team will stand a good chance of accomplishing
these goals. Through our leadership, in
particular our captains, and with the help of the entire team like spirited seniors
Mariah Sanguinetti, Sarah Meyerhoff , Cassandra Spicer, and Ariel Cohen,
juniors and sophomores Kelsey Roberts, Katie
Keefer, Emily Pence, and Mimi Warner the Holton-Arms Varsity Swim and Dive Team
has the tools to reach these goals.
To help with these goals, please come to our meets and cheer
on the Panthers!!
