Join us to explore and share how leveraging local, national, and global issues and perspectives in your classes empowers students to build understanding around the interdependence and interconnectedness of our world.

Target Audience: Department Chairs, Classroom Teachers, Teacher Leaders, and Instructional Teams
Registration Fee Per Person: $275 by Sept. 30 (early bird $195 by June 30)
Join us to explore how to:
- Incorporate the economic, environmental, and social impacts of global issues and perspectives into your curriculum
- Expand your students' thinking beyond the classroom
- Encourage students to explore their diverse identities and how those identities affect their actions within the global community
- Develop your teaching and learning in an ever-changing and complex world
Registration Fee Per Person: $275 (early bird $195 prior to June 30, 2020)*

In depth exp/orations of the rich resources, programs, services, and teaching tools that support students' development and learning.
3:30-4:30 p.m. Explore Workshops (Track I)
In the explore workshops, participants will share current topics of local, national and global importance and how they are addressed in different divisions/discipline.
4:30-5 p.m. Cocktails & Networking

5:45-6:45 p.m. Keynote Speaker: Nidhi Bouri '04, Team Lead at USAID's Office of U.S. Foreign Disaster Assistance Specialist

Get Involved: Learn, Share, Network!
Pedagogies & Passports is designed for classroom teachers. We want and need your participation to make it a success!
Educators from all divisions and disciplines can submit a proposal for Explore Workshops or Tech Slam:
Engage in the Tech Slam
Tech Slam is a short demo (5 minutes), led by conference participants, of tech apps, program, tools or ideas that allow teachers to connect their students to the world. The goal is to introduce participants to as many new technology ideas as possible. Be sure to bring your laptop! All materials will be collected to be shared with conference participants.
Present an Explore Workshop
Facilitate a 60-minute workshop in which participants learn how you have integrated the economic, environmental, and social impacts of global issues and perspectives into your curriculum. Share how you address current topics of local, national and global importance to empower students to make a positive impact in their communities and the world. Topics may include, but are not limited to, race, climate change, xenophobia, immigration, antisemitism, etc.
Please submit your proposal no later than Friday, September 4. We will review and respond to your proposal by Friday, September 18.
Arrival
The Networking Lunch will begin at 12:00 p.m. on Thursday. Since Thursday is a regular attendance day for Holton students, faculty, and staff, we ask that you plan your arrival for no earlier than 11:45 a.m. Welcome remarks by Holton Head of School, Susanna A. Jones and Conference Logistics by Director of Diversity and Global Education, Melissa Brown.
Shuttle Service/Parking
We encourage you to take advantage of a shuttle service we will be running from the Marriott Suites in Bethesda at the following times:
- Thursday 11:30 a.m.
- Thursday Evening 7:05 p.m.
- Friday Morning 8:00 a.m.
*Note that there will not be a return shuttle Service on Saturday afternoon. We suggest that you use Taxi, Uber, or Lyft from Holton following the conference.
Please park in the first two bays in the front of the school (when you enter campus follow the signs to the Upper School, not the Lower School). Holton facilities staff will be present at 11:45 a.m. to assist you.
Lodging Information
Holton has a room block at Bethesda Marriott Suites under Pedagogies & Passports Room Block. The room rate is $179.00/night. Guests should call Marriott Reservations directly at 1 (800) 228-9290 on or before Thursday, September 17, 2020, to make arrangements.
