Creative Summer Counselor

(Rising Grade 11 through adult)

Creative Summer is seeking talented, enthusiastic and hard-working individuals who love sharing their expertise with children. Professional teachers, coaches, graduate students, college students, and high school students make up the talented, enthusiastic, and friendly staff at Creative Summer. The Camper/Staff ratio of 5:1 ensures individual attention for all campers.

Camper safety is our number one priority at Creative Summer. All counselors, volunteers, and staff are required to submit fingerprints in accordance with the Maryland Family law and complete a background and criminal history record check through the Maryland Public Safety and Correctional Services, Criminal Justice Information System. Additionally, all counselors are processed through the State of Maryland Child Protective Services Program.

Creative Summer staff must commit to the full six week program plus four days of orientation.

  • Orientation: June 20 to June 23, 2017
  • Session 1: June 26 to July 14, 2017
  • Session 2: July 17 to August 4, 2017

Position Availability

Creative Summer is currently staffing for the following positions. Some of these openings may be fulfilled by the same person. Check back for updated availability.

  • Creative Kids Head Counselor
    • Looking for an experienced early childhood specialist to lead a group of 15 in one of our Creative Kids programs (ages 4-7). In this contained program, campers participate in activities such as singing, Funtastic Science, Creative Movement; Sports, Arts and Crafts, Computers, and more.
  • Creative Kids Art Counselor
    • Looking for an experienced early childhood specialist interested in art. The Creative Kids Art Counselor will be responsible for the planning and executing age appropriate projects for campers, ages 4-7.
  • Acting Head Counselor
    • Seeking an individual with prior experience leading Children’s acting workshops. This person would be responsible for three different acting Classes; Introductory Acting, Acting 2, and Playwriting and Performing.
  • Tennis Counselor
    • Seeking an experienced tennis player with interest working with children ages 6-13. This individual should prior team or coaching experience.
  • Swimming Counselor
    • Seeking an experienced Lifeguard/Swim Instructor with interest working with children ages 6-13. This individual should prior swim team or guarding experience. By state law, all Instructors must be CPR/First Aid and Red Cross Certified.
  • Sports Program Head Counselor

  • Digital Photography Head Counselor
  • Spy Adventures Head Counselor
  • Artistic Wizardry Head Counselor
  • Chess Head Counselor

Creative Summer Counselor-in-Training (CIT)

(Grade 9 or 10 in fall 2017)

Rising Grade 9 and 10 students can apply for the Counselor-in-Training program at Creative Summer. The goal of this program is to train young men and women to become effective and talented counselors. Through hands-on learning in the classroom and leadership training throughout the program, the CITs leave Creative Summer with a better understanding of the camp environment and how to successfully work with children.

Creative Summer staff must commit to the full six week program plus four days of orientation and training.
